PURPOSE:To provide a black matrix substrate having not only high dimensional accuracy but also high optical density and low reflectance which can be used for a flat display such as a liquid crystal display, an imager such as CCD, or a color filter such as a color sensor. CONSTITUTION:This black matrix substrate 12 consists of a substrate 13 and a black pattern 14 containing at least metal particles formed on the substrate 13. The metal particles have such a distribution of particle size that >=80% of the whole particles are in the range of 5-50nm particle size, and have >=60% projection area density in terms of 600Angstrom -thick particles and >=1.5 optical density. |
