PURPOSE:To improve the black display characteristic of a nematic liquid crystal display. CONSTITUTION:This transparent device is constituted by arranging a pair of transparent substrates 1, 2 which have oriented films 1-2, 2-2 for imparting a helix structure to a nematic liquid crystal layer and transparent electrodes, respectively and constitute a liquid crystal element 10 by holding the liquid crystal layer, a pair of polarizing plates 3, 4 which hold the liquid crystal element 10 between them, a pair of phase difference plates 5, 6 which are held between a pair of these polarizing plates 3, 4 and a color correction plate 9 which corrects the wavelength dispersion by DELTAn.d of the liquid crystal element 10 and the phase difference plates 5, 6 between the liquid crystal element 10 and a polarizing plate 4. As a result, the coloration of the liquid crystal display element is corrected, the pure black display is made and a contrast is improved. |
