The subject matter of the invention is a device for providing a motor drive for roller shutters and louvres. The device comprises a drive motor (6) which is fitted in the roller shutter box on the side of the winding core (10), and a controller (17) whose power section (5) is equipped with a rechargeable battery (accumulator). The rechargeable battery is also used as the power source for the drive motor (6). The control section (1) of the controller (17) provides the two functions "open roller shutter" and "close roller shutter". A separate push-button switch (15, 16) can be provided for each of the two functions. The power section (5) has a plug connector which can be plugged into the control section (1). The control section (1) is connected via an electrical cable (14) to the drive motor (6). The rechargeable battery can be charged by plugging the mains plug of the power section (5) into the mains plug socket. <IMAGE>
