PURPOSE:To improve the detection accuracy of a rotation detector even when a large number of magnetism sensitive elements are used and, at the same time, to reduce the outside diameter of an FG magnet without deteriorating the detection accuracy. CONSTITUTION:A sensor section 30 has eight magnetism sensitive elements 31A-31H and the elements are divided into a first and second layers 41 and 43 in groups of four elements, with two layers stacked in the radial direction of an FG magnet 13. Since the overall width of the elements 31A-31H is reduced in the sensor section 30 as compared with the conventional 13 the gaps 1 between each element 31A-31H and the magnet 13 becomes almost equal to another and, at the same time, the influences of leakage magnetic fluxes from rotor magnets also become almost equal to each other, the output levels of rotation detecting signals P1 and P2 become the same in prescribed phases. Therefore, the rotating station detection accuracy of this rotation detector can be improved. |
