ADJUSTMENT BAR

An adjustment bar (1) of effective variable length comprises a bar (4) which can be moved with respect to a housing (2). A piston (5) on the bar (4) divides the housing (2) into two chambers (6, 7) both of which are filled with a fluid (8). A fluid transfer link (9) interconnects the two chambers (6, 7) so that movement of the bar (4) within the housing (2) causes fluid to flow from one chamber into the other chamber. A locking means in the form of a tap (10) can be operated to prevent fluid flow through the fluid transfer link (9) thereby locking the bar (4) when it is as its required effective length.
