The microcomputer system has a number of microcomputers (MC1-MC4) coupled in pairs onto two busses (BUS1,BUS2). Bus coupling groups provide an interconnection between the two busses and the data to be transmitted is stored until the target microcomputer has received all of it. In the event that the target microcomputer fails it is not possible for the memory (SFIFO1,2 or SFIFO2/1) to transmit and further transmissions could be prevented. This is prevented by the transmitting microcomputer identifying the failure and signalling to the bus computer (BG1/2,BG2/1) which switches to a receiver memory (EFIFO1/2,EFIFO2/1) to simulate the action of the target unit.
