The invention relates to an installation for recovering liquid loaded with waste materials, in particular rinsing water from rim-supported rotary drums which serve for concrete manufacture. According to the invention, the installation comprises a cylindrical shaft with a vertical axis which is buried in the earth and in which a piston float of the same cross-section slides freely. The piston float has at least one axially continuous opening and supports at least one transversely arranged grating, the mesh width of which allows the retention of waste materials poured into the shaft. The piston float has a floating buoyancy force, by means of which that gravitational force which corresponds to the maximum quantity of waste material to be retained can be compensated so that the grating or gratings can be unloaded when the piston float is in its high position, while the water situated below the piston float can be recovered through at least one assigned drawing-off opening cut out in the wall of the shaft.
