Technical object and aim. The intention is to provide using simple and inexpensive materials a solar collector for heating air to a high temperature which also exhibits, at a high useful temperature, only low energy losses. Solution of the technical object. The object is achieved according to the invention in such a way that a large-area, wide-meshed and thick fabric is exposed to solar radiation and thereby heats up. Air is sucked through this fabric by means of a fan from the side facing the sun to the collector interior and heats up by flowing past the fabric threads. The fabric acts, on the one hand, as absorber and, on the other hand, also as heat insulation. The inflowing air acts, on the one hand, as heat carrier and, on the other hand, it reduces the heat losses to the outside owing to its flow direction. As protection against UV rays, the fabric can be covered with a glass pane. Area of application. One area of application is the heating of air, for example for domestic heating. <IMAGE>
