<p>The invention relates to a digester for potatoes or roots, including mashing elements and a heated digesting space. The mashing elements and the digesting space provide a continuously extending tubular feed conveyor, having its inlet end fitted with a hydraulic or mechanical compression unit (1) which is separated from the digesting space (8) with a masher, such as an aperture disc (4), through which a compression element (2) included in the compression unit (1) forces the potatoes or roots from the compression unit (1) into the tubular digesting space (8) which is heated by hot water circulation through a water collar (6) and/or a central tube (7).</p> |
