Small water treatment unit based on ion exchanger with the facility for regeneration and thermal disinfection

In a small water treatment unit for producing drinking water and cooking water having at least one resin-filled ion exchanger container (4) which has a capacity between 100 ml and 1000 ml and with which respectively approximately 10 l to 100 l of product water can be produced by one filling of regenerated resin, the ion exchanger container being provided at the top and bottom with water-permeable sieve plates or being provided with perforations in the upper and/or lower region of its side walls and being provided with an open water feed and discharge and the water feed to the ion exchanger container being broadly unpressurised and designed in such a way that a water flow through the ion exchanger container only occurs as a result of gravity, a regeneration station (1) is provided having a feed line for regeneration liquid to the upper part of the ion exchanger container and an outlet line for exhausted regenerant from the bottom part of the ion exchanger container and having a hot water feed to the ion exchanger container for hot water between 50 DEG C and 110 DEG C, in particular between 80 DEG C and 110 DEG C. Because of the regenerability, a relatively large amount of ion exchanger resin can be used so that the water treatment proceeds more rapidly, unhygienic microbial growth in the ion exchanger resin being able to be prevented by thermal disinfection.
