METHOD FOR INTERPOLATING FREE CURVE

PURPOSE:To execute interpolation while satisfying smoothness and to improve the efficiency of interpolating processing and the accuracy of interpolation for a sequence of points in a space by expressing the formula of a curve by relation between the length of the curve and its tangent direction and continuously changing the tangent direction and the curvature of the curve. CONSTITUTION:A sequence of points freely applied by two-dimensional coordinates is interpolated by using clothoid segments. The clothoid segments are described by four parameters and the values of the parameters are determined so that the segment directions of a certain clothoid segment and the succeeding one coincide with each other on a seam between both the segments or the parameters are determined from the tangent directions of the start and end points of the clothoid segments.
