The invention relates to a tricycle consisting of one front wheel, two rear wheels beside each other, a first bearer between and supporting the latter before the rear axle, a frame with a saddle which is connected to the bearer so as to pivot about a roughly horizontal axis via two bearings, a luggage carrier between the rear wheels and a drive for the rear wheels, said drive having a front pinion fitted on a bearing on the frame, at least one second pinion fitted behind it on a bearing on the frame, a chain passing around the two pinions, a third pinion rotationally fixed with the second and fitted on the same spindle, a fourth pinion fitted on the spindle of the rear wheels and a chain passing around the third and fourth pinions and in which a first of the two bearings is fitted between the frame and the first bearer. The invention consists in the fact that there is a second bearer (16a) behind the rear axle which, with the first bearer (16b), forms a frame (16) carrying the wheels (1, 2), the second bearing (17a) is located between the frame (4) and the second bearer (16b), that the third and fourth pinion (10, 11) are fitted on bearings on the frame (4) and are located on the swivelling axis of both bearings (17a, b), and that the fourth pinion (10) drives the rear wheels (1, 2) via one shaft (15) each which is connected to the fourth pinion (19) and a rear wheel (1, 2) via universal joints and consists of two parts (22, 23) integral in rotation, fitted one within the other and sliding relatively to each other. The tricycle is thus shortened. |
