Textile decolorizer

The invention relates to a textile decolorizer, especially for household purposes, which in aqueous solution forms a decolorizing liquor for textiles to be decolorized. The textile decolorizer of the invention is notable for a storable powder mixture with thiourea dioxide as active decolorizing component, also with sodium carbonate or some other water-soluble carbonate or bicarbonate of the alkali elements as alkali carrier and with a defoamer for expelling oxygen from the decolorizing liquor or with antifoam for preventing oxygen in the decolorizing liquor. The mixture preferably contains about 3 to 20-25% by weight of thiourea dioxide. The decolorizing effect, despite the low concentration of thiourea dioxide, can surprisingly be improved by an addition of urea. Such a textile decolorizer is sufficiently stable and also storable, simple to handle and essentially more compatible and also more gentle than hitherto customary textile decolorizers based on sodium dithionite. It has a high decolorizing effect and is usable in various temperature ranges, including at room temperature.
