FUEL INJECTION NOZZLE

A fuel injection nozzle includes a fuel pressure actuated valve member (16) which is lifted from a seating (12) to allow fuel flow through an outlet orifice (15). The valve member is biased into engagement with the seating by two springs (19, 21) which are connected in series with each other. The spring (19) which is adjacent the valve member is a very high rate spring and the spring (21) has a lower rate to facilitate adjustment of the nozzle opening pressure. A dashpot (25) is provided to substantially prevent further stressing of the lower rate spring during fuel flow to the associated engine.
