A swirl diffuser comprises a deflector unit having a plurality of spaced deflector vanes arranged about a vertical axis, but inclined thereto for discharging air in directions transverse to the axis, and a cover grille 6 over the deflector unit, the cover grille 6 including non-circular openings 52 whose maximum dimension "z" measured along a radius centred on the axis is greater than their depth as measured parallel to the first axis. A plate, which includes the vanes, is movable axially. Radial ribs 51 separate sets of the openings 52. The diffuser may be secured to a floor tile by spring clips. A rotary hit-and-miss damper and a dirt collecting tray may be located upstream of the defector unit. <IMAGE> |
