摘要 PURPOSE:To enhance yield of cells of the genus Euglena and improve production efficiency of beta-1,3-glucan, by cultivating cells of the genus Euglena in a nutrient culture medium containing a carbon source, nitrogen source, inorganic salt, etc. CONSTITUTION:Cells of Euglenoid, e.g. Euglena gracilis, Euglena viridis, Euglena intermedia, etc., as well as cells of the Euglena, e.g. wild strain, etc., are cultivated in a nutrient culture medium containing glucose, yeast extract, etc., as a carbon source, ammonium sulfate, ammonium phosphate, etc., as a nitrogen source, MgCO3, KH2PO4, etc., as an inorganic salt, thiamine, cyanocobalamin, etc., as a vitamin by keeping the carbon source concentration at 2-12g/l and atomic weight ratio (C/N) of carbon to nitrogen at 10-30 in the starting culture medium and the pH at 3-6, temperature at 25-34 deg.C and dissolved oxygen concentration at 0.1-1ppm in multiplication. The cultivation is preferably carried out in a dark state as much as possible to attain a climax about 4-5 days after the inoculation. Thereby the aimed beta-1,3-glucan is obtained.
