PURPOSE:To provide a thermal recording material having a superior long-term color image shelf stability, such as resistance to oils, resistance to plasticizer, resistance to moisture, and resistance to heat, and a high brightness by a method wherein a color developer of a thermally color-forming layer contains at least one kind of aromatic organic compound having 2 or more functional groups shown by a specific formula in a molecule. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording material is provided with a sheet substrate and a thermally color-forming layer formed on at least one surface of the sheet substrate by incorporating a coloress or light-colored dye precursor and a color developer reacting under heat to develop the dye precursor. The color developer contains at least one kind of aromatic organic compound having 2 or more functional groups shown by formula I in a molecule. In the formula, X is oxygen atom or sulfur atom. This aromatic compound functions as a color developer with a strong color developing power to a basic leuco dye and a power of securely keeping the colored dye and inhibiting a decoloring reaction. |
