PURPOSE:To surely detect the driving state of a driver, even if brightness changes because of a variety of traveling environments, by treating the face image of a driver which is taken photograph. CONSTITUTION:An image supplied from a camera 10 for taking a photograph of a driver is supplied into an image processor 12 and the deep/light degree normalization is carried out. Further, the relative calculation is carried out by using a standard template on which the face and eye regions are previously specified for the normalized image, and an objective face template and an objective eye template of the driver are formed. The relative calculation is carried out by using the above-described objective templates for the normalized image, and the result is supplied to an ECU 16. The ECU 16 detects the drive state of the driver on the basis of the variation of the relative value. Accordingly, the abnormal state of the driver can be detected surely by carrying out normalization and carrying out the relative calculation, independently of the brightness of the environment. |
