The generator has a vertical mast (11) at the top of which there is a generator housing (13). At one end the housing carries a rotor (14) which has propeller type blades (15) and revolves about a horizontal axis (16). The rotor hub (14) is attached to the generator housing (13) by a hinged bracket (18) at one side and a pivoted rod (26) at the other side so that it can be tilted relatively to the housing about a horizontal axis perpendicular to the axis of rotation. This brings each blade in turn close to the mast (11) from which it can be inspected from a working gantry (30).
