PURPOSE:To provide a laser thermal transfer printer capable of recycling an ink layer stably for a long time and stably forming a high quality image. CONSTITUTION:This device comprises a glass disc 16 made of a non-infrared absorption material in which three groove sections each containing ink layer are formed on an edge face 31 opposing to a recording paper 12 and a laser light radiation-switching means having a second mirror M2 which is freely movable, emits laser light L from a bottom face 34 of the groove sections and selectively switches the groove sections where the laser light L is emitted. An ink layer-recycling means which coats a solid ink to recycle the ink layer in the groove section, is provided therein. In each groove section, a heat- insulating layer 37, a carbon layer 38 which absorbs the laser light to heat up and the ink layer are laminated from the bottom 34 side and an air gap 39 is provided between the ink layer and the recording paper 12. |
