PURPOSE:To prevent a boundary between an electric discharge connection area and a non-electric discharge connection area from being connected defectively by allowing the boundary to extend in a peripheral direction passing through the center of an assembled foil thickness direction, then fold in a radial direction upto the thickness direction of an adjacent assembled foil, and further fold in the peripheral direction, in such a manner that these procedures are repeated a number of times, in the subject carrier for purification of an exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine for automobile. CONSTITUTION:More than one set of assembled foils obtained by fusing a corrugated foil 11 and a plain foil 12, both of aluminum-containing stainless steel, together at a contact part using laser beam, are wound in a swirl form of layers, to form a metal catalyst carrier. In this case, a border 19 between an electric discharge connection area and a non-electric discharge connection area is serrated by forming a part 19a which extends in a peripheral direction passing through the center of the thickness direction of the assembled foil and a part 19b which extends upto the center of the thickness direction of an adjacent assembled foil folding in the radial direction which connects to the part 19a, and a part which folds in the peripheral direction, connecting to the part 19b, a number of times, in one circle. |
