PURPOSE:To prepare the subject material excellent in transparency, weatherability, light resistance, heat resistance, metallic thin film adhesiveness, etc., useful for the films for reflective mirrors, polarizing plate substrates, etc., made up of specific glutarimide unit and methyl methacrylate unit at specified proportion. CONSTITUTION:The objective material consists of a glutarimide-acrylic resin is made up of (A) 5-80mol% of glutarimide structural unit of the formula (R is H, 1-8C alkyl, 5-10C cycloalkyl or 6-10C aryl) and (B) 20-95mol% of methacrylic acid unit. It is peferable that (1) the orientation release stress for biaxial orientation is 3-30kg/cm<2>; (2) the material of the formula represents a drawn film or sheet laminated with a metallic thin film such as of silver or aluminum; and (3) a polarizing plate is made by laminating a polarizing film with this material. |
