PURPOSE:To achieve the cost reduction, miniaturization and wt. reduction of an ink jet recording apparatus capable of performing the recovery operation of a recording head within an extremely short time only by simple control operation without requiring a special drive means and a special transmission mechanism. CONSTITUTION:At least a part of the cap 1 covering the emitting orifice surface 81 of a recording head 2 is formed from a soft elastomer and the part of the soft elastomer of the cap 1 is deformed accompanied by the movement of the recording head 2 and negative pressure is generated in an emitting orifice 82 by utilizing the deformation and recovery force of the soft elastomer to perform suction recovery operation sucking ink and recovery operation such as cleaning operation wiping the emitting orifice surface 81. |
