The speed controller of the invention is for use with an air motor having an air chamber 51 housing a rotor body 53. Compressed air is supplied from an air supply channel through radially directed intake channels 54 and jet holes 52 formed in a tangential direction of the rotor on the periphery of the rotor to give torque. The amount of air passing through the radially directed channels 54 is controlled by a plurality of elastically deformable balls 55 housed respectively within the channels, the amount of deformation being dependent on the rotational speed of the rotor 53 to maintain a constant output. <IMAGE>
