PURPOSE:To provide heat-resistant acrylic fibers having a high whiteness by subjecting acrylic fibers comprising an acrylonitrile polymer containing acrylonitrile in a specific wt.% to a fluorescence-bleaching treatment and further subjecting the fluoreseence-bleached fibers to a bleaching treatment using a chlorinated bleaching agent. CONSTITUTION:Acrylic fibers comprising the copolymer of acrylonitrile with (meth)acrylic acid alkyl or phenyl ester or (meth)allylsulfonic acid, the content of the acrylonitrile component being >=98wt.%, or acrylic fibers comprising 100wt.% of polyacrylonitrile are preferably dyed with a fluorescent dyestuff at 110-115 deg.C, and subsequently bleached with a chlorinated bleaching agent such as sodium hypochlorite at 99-95 deg.C to obtain heat-resistant acrylic fibers having a high Hunter whiteness degree of >=110 and excellent in dimensional stability even when dyed at high temperature. |
