PURPOSE:To provide a thermal transfer recording medium having a high sensitivity, a superior color reproducibility, and good transferring properties. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal transfer recording medium at least provided with a substrate, a photothermal energy conversion layer, and a hot melt ink layer and applied to recording at a linear velocity of 1m/sec or more using a laser light of an intensity of 1000W/mm<2> or more at an exposed surface, the photothermal energy conversion layer is composed of an infrared absorbing dyestuff and a binder, and the total film thickness of said photothermal energy conversion layer and said hot melt ink layer is not more than 1.5mum. The thermal transfer recording medium is at least provided with a substrate, a cushion layer, a photothermal energy conversion layer, and a hot melt ink layer. In a thermal transfer recording medium applied to recording at a linear velocity of 1m/sec or more using a laser light of an intensity of 1000W/mm<2> or more at an exposed surface, the total film thickness of said photothermal energy conversion layer and said hot melt ink layer is not more than 1.5mum. |
