SPHERICAL FINE POROUS CELLULOSE PARTICLES AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain spherical fine porous cellulose particles uniform in particle diameter and excellent in lubricity, touch, etc., by using spherical fine porous cellulose particles each having a shell layer and a porous core having specified porosity. CONSTITUTION:Fatty acid ester of cellulose such as cellulose acetate is dissolved in a solvent such as chlorinated hydrocarbon, the resulting soln. is emulsified or dispersed in an aq. medium and part of the ester is saponified to form shell layers of emulsified or dispersed particles. The solvent is then distilled out and the remaining ester is perfectly saponified to obtain the objective spherical fine porous cellulose particles each having a shell layer and a porous core having 5-50% porosity.
