PURPOSE:To efficiently purify NOx at a practicable level from waste combustion gases contg. oxygen by using alcohols having >=2 hydroxyl groups in the presence of a catalyst contg. alumina. CONSTITUTION:The NOx is efficiently purified at the practical level from the waste combustion gases contg. oxygen by using the alcohols contg. >=2 hydroxyl groups in the molecule in the presence of the catalyst contg. the alumina. Alumina exclusive of alpha type among alpha, kappa, theta, delta, gamma, eta, chi, rho types is preferably used as the alumina to be used as the essential component of the catalyst. The alcohols contg. >=2 hydroxyl groups in the molecule refers to compds. constituted of carbon and >=2 hydroxyl groups and include, for example, ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, butylene glycol, trimethylene glycol, glycerol, etc. |
