PURPOSE:To avoid the pollution of environment with waste by constituting the ink absorbing member provided to an ink jet recording apparatus of a compsn. compounded with a biodegradable polymer and a bacteria growing substance. CONSTITUTION:The waste ink absorbing member 44 provided to an ink jet recording apparatus is constituted of a compsn. compounded with a biodegradable polymer (e.g. modified starch-compounded synthetic polymer) and a bacteria growing substance (e.g. rice and wheat dried product). It is cleared that this waste ink absorbing member is sufficiently advanced in biodegradation during a use period of at least three months and, even if the waste ink absorbing member is discharged to natural environment by any cause, the pollution of environment with waste can be avoided by the decomposition action of bacteria and, in its turn, the solution of the future protection problem of environment is accelerated and made positive. |
