The present invention is a timed release drug delivery system using hollow fibers. The drug contents of the voids in the fibers are delivered to the immediate environment of the fiber through the two open ends of each fiber. The present invention further includes a method of using a vacuum chamber for filling the fibers with the drugs to be delivered, and a method to control the manufacturing process of the hollow fibers containing drugs to obtain a certain rate of drug release. The present invention further includes fabrics manufactured from such drug delivery fibers, and articles made from such fabrics, such as vascular grafts and disposable surgical clothing. |
