Lead-metering valve

A valve for the precise metering of liquid lead into moulds, e.g. for battery electrode grids, comprises a valve tappet which can be moved up and down and at the end of which a cylindrical pin (29) is integrally moulded on, as well as an outflow opening (27) corresponding to the pin and located in the bottom of a lead storage vessel as a valve seat, through which opening the pin penetrates in the closed position. In this arrangement, owing to a reduction in diameter of the pin by about 0.04 mm with respect to the diameter of the hole, a narrow annular gap remains open between said opening and the pin, into which molten lead (30) seeps. In this way, the valve forms a seal over the entire circumferential surface of the cylindrical pin, and the oxidation of the lead is also utilised. <IMAGE>
