In order to improve, in regard to its performance, a solid-state laser comprising a solid-state bar extending along an optical axis, a plurality of pump-light sources arranged laterally to the solid-state bar and radiating pump light for the solid-state bar and imaging optics reflecting at least part of the pump light onto the solid-state bar, it is proposed that the pump-light sources are designed as semiconductor laser units, that each semiconductor laser unit is designed as a line radiator which radiates a partially coherent laser-radiation beam which, on the exit side, has a cross-section elongated in a first direction and is widened by defraction symmetrically with respect to a middle plane of the laser radiation, running parallel to the first direction, and that the semiconductor laser unit is arranged in such a way that the first direction runs essentially parallel to the optical axis.
