The invention relates to a storage tank (1) for storing liquid, in particular water, with temperature layering of the stored liquid, as a rule at various temperatures, preferably employed as a storage tank (1) of a heating installation, it being possible to effect a withdrawal of hot water and a feeding-in of cold water, having a tube-like substantially vertically arranged fitting (5), through which fed-in cold water, which can be warmed in the course of the throughflow, can flow. In order to obtain, with a simple structure, an as favourable a thermal behaviour of the storage tank as possible, the invention proposes that the fitting (5) is designed with throughflow openings (6) over a substantial part of its vertical length. <IMAGE>
