A method for fixing chromated copper arsenate agents in wood by treating the wood with a fixing agent selected from the following: a) <IMG> b) NH2O-R2; c) R2-NHOH; and d) R3-COOH wherein R1 is the same or different and is hydrogen, phenyl or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R2 is hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R3 is (R4)2(HO)C- or R4OOC- and R4 is hydrogen, an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, phenyl or pyridyl.
