CARRIER FOR ALKYLENE OXIDE FORMATION CATALYST AND CATALYST USING THE SAME

PURPOSE:To obtain an efficient catalyst for producing an alkylene oxide from an alkene. CONSTITUTION:A specific alumina is treated according to a specific process to give an alpha-alumina carrier. Then, silver or other catalytically active components are supported on the carrier. An alkylene oxide can be produced at a high reaction rate in high selectivity without use of reaction suppressor, thus marked simplification of the ethylene oxide production process and reduction in construction costs can be attained.
