ISOTHIAZOLE DERIVATIVE, ITS PRODUCTION AND USE THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain a novel compound useful as a preventive agent for timber rotting and blight damage because of its excellent effect on timber rotting bacteria and blight damage. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I (R is H, 1-12C alkyl, 2-7C alkenyl, 3-7C cycloalkyl; R<1> is 1-12C alkyl, 2-7C alkenyl, 3-7C alkenyl, aryl; (n) is 1, 2), for example, 3-hydroxy-4-cyano-5-methylsulfonylisothiazole. The compound of formula I is obtained by reaction of a compound of formula II with potassium permanganate double salt or hydrogen peroxide in a solvent such as methanol at 0 to 100 deg.C. It can be applied against cucumber downy mildew, tomato late blight, rice blast, cucumber gray mould and as a preventive agent for timber rotting bacteria in building materials.
