<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a cerium-contg. multiple oxide capable of absorbing and discharging oxygen and useful in the catalyst and ceramic fields by incorporating a noble and/or a transition-metal oxide into the multiple oxide as the essential component. CONSTITUTION:The multiple oxide consisting essentially of cerium oxide is capable of absorbing and discharging >=100mum/g of oxygen at <=300 deg.C and contains 0.01-10.0wt.% of a noble metal and/or a transition-metal oxide. Meanwhile, a soln. contg. cerium ion, noble metal ion and/or transition-metal ion is mixed with the aq. soln. of ammonia, ammonium bicarbonate or aq. oxalic acid contg. a reducing agent to prepare a multiple-salt precipitate, and the precipitate is calcined at >=250 deg.C to produce the cerium-contg. multiple oxide. A multiple oxide capable of excellently absorbing and discharging oxygen is easily produced in this way.</p> |
