An azomethine dye is disclosed, represented by the general formula (I), (II) or (III): <IMAGE> (I) <IMAGE> (II) <IMAGE> (III) wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 each independently represents a hydrogen atom or nonmetallic atom group; X represents -OH or -NR5R6; R5 and R6 each independently represents a hydrogen atom, alkyl group, aryl group or heterocyclic group; R7, R8, R9, R10, R11, R12 and R13 each independently represents a hydrogen atom or nonmetallic atom group; and R1 and R2, and/or R2 and R5, and/or R5 and R6, and/or R6 and R3, and/or R3 and R4, and/or R7 and R8, and/or R9 and R10, and/or R11 and R12, and/or R12 and R13 may be connected to each other to form a cyclic structure. A heat transfer dye providing material is also disclosed, comprising a support having thereon a dye providing layer containing a heat migrating dye, the dye providing layer comprising at least one azomethine dye represented by the general formula (I), (II) or (III).
