PURPOSE:To obtain a double luminous plane-form light source and an image reading and display device in which a single light source is used for the light source of an image reading device and the light source of an image display device concurrently, the brightness necessary for reading and the brightness necessary for display can be obtained simultaneously, and a small size, a low cost, and a low power consumption of the device can be realized. CONSTITUTION:In this double luminous plane-form light source, light sources of a cathode tube are provided at both ends of a light transmission plate 24, a homogeneous layer and a diffusion layer are provided to the upper and the lower surfaces of the light transmission plate 24, and a reflection layer 23 is formed at the position slipped from the central position to an image reading device side in the horizontal direction in the light transmission plate 24. By using this double luminous plane-form light source, an image display device is provided on the surface opposite from the surface to form the image reading device, so as to compose an image reading and display device. |
