<p>PURPOSE:To enable high speed traveling by regulating rotary guides in rotation at the time of low speed traveling for reproducing, etc., releasing this regulation at the time of high speed for fast forwarding and, rewinding, etc., and using them properly as a rotary guide and a fixed guide accordingly. CONSTITUTION:At the time of the low speed traveling for recording and reproducing of a magnetic tape 2, tension of the tape 2 between the rotary guides 31 and 32 is raised, and a wrapping angle theta1 of the tape 2 to the guide 32 is minimized. Then, a middle part 36b is moved in the direction of an arrow (g) by tension to release the guide 31 from its rotation, but since a tip part 36a is still maintaining the rotational regulation of the guide 32, the guide 31 cannot be a vibration source, and hence the occurrence of wow, flutter and noise is suppressed. Then, at the time of the high speed traveling for fast forwarding and rewinding, the tension is max., and the tape wrapping angle theta2 of the guide 32 is also max., and the part 36a is separated in the direction of an arrow (h) from the outer circumference of the guide 32, so that the rotational regulation of the guides 31 and 32 is released. By this method, the tape is prevented from flawing and powdering, and the durability of the tape and the rotary guides is enhanced, and then the high speed traveling can be performed.</p> |
