PURPOSE:To prevent a displayed course and character information on a place name, etc., from being displayed one over the other regarding the navigation system which is mounted on a vehicle and provides destination guidance. CONSTITUTION:The display controller of the navigation system which plots a road map displays both a course up to a target value and character information for the course is provided with a nearest segment retrieval part 43 which is a segment comprising the course and retrieves the segment nearest to a the position of a character to be displayed, a position retrieval part 44 which retrieval the up/down position relation and right/left position relation between the retrieved segment and character, and a character movement control 45 which corrects the character position in a direction being distant from the retrieved segment in consideration of the relations with the retrieved segment. |
