PURPOSE: To enhance the detection of human immune deficiency virus HIV-1 p24 core protein. CONSTITUTION: A method for promoting detection of antigen in a sample comprises steps of regulating the sample capable of containing the antigen immune combined to an antibody to a pH of about 8.0 or more with a basic pH solution to dissociate the immune combined body and make the antigen free, subjecting the regulated sample to immunoassay to form a novel immune combined body of the antigen in the sample and the antibody combined to a solid support body, detecting the presence of the novel immune combined body, and determining the presence of the antigen.
