<p>PURPOSE:To extend the life of metallic vapor electric discharge lamps by disposing three concave reflecting surfaces in the bottom of a reflector at an interval of 120 deg. from one another about the axis of a light source device, and disposing the metallic vapor electric discharge lamps near the foci of the concave reflecting surfaces. CONSTITUTION:A light source device comprises three concave reflecting paraboloids 2, 3, 4 disposed in the bottom of a cylindrical reflector main body at an interval of 120 deg. from one another about the axis of the light source device. Three metallic vapor electric discharge lamps 5, 6, 7 are disposed near the foci of the respective reflecting paraboloids and along the sides of a triangle. A diffusion plate 8 for cutting mixed-colored and ultraviolet rays is disposed on the front surface of a reflector. The reflecting paraboloids 2, 3, 4 have their axes set to cross one another at the center A of the circular diffusion plate 8. Then light emitted from each metallic vapor electric discharge lamp is allowed to exit forward by one reflecting paraboloid, and is blocked by the other reflecting paraboloids and so does not impinge on the other metallic vapor electric discharge lamps.</p> |
