PURPOSE:To enhance the initial, utilization factor of anode active material by specifying the filling density of an anode compound Ni(OH)2 to be filled in conductive base material. CONSTITUTION:An anode compound indispensably composed of 80 to 95% Ni(OH)2 by weight, and of 2 to 8% CoO by weight, is filled in a spongy nickel porous body by a filling density of 2.4 to 2.9/ml. By this constitution, a capacity can thereby be made high, conductivity can be made excellent, and concurrently an initial utilization factor can be enhanced with the filling density made appropriate. Moreover, the addition of CoO contributes to maintain or enhance the activity of the anode, and also contributes to enhance the density of a energy storing capacity of the anode. |
