COLOR IMAGE FORMING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To prevent residual toner from entering a development unit by reducing an amount of toner remaining on the periphery of a photosensitive drum after cleaning. CONSTITUTION:A corona discharger 58 is arranged in front of a cleaner 59 opposing to the circumferential surface of the photosensitive drum 30 with a prescribed interval. Also, an AC bias power source 60 and a DC bias power source 61 are connected to a discharge wire 58A of the corona discharger 58. When a multicolor image is formed, DC bias voltage of 200-800V having the oppositie toner polarity to the toner during development and AC bias voltage of approximatery 8kV are superposed and impressed to the discharge wire and discharged to the residual toner (d) on the photosensitive drum 30. When a monochromatic image is formed only the AC bias voltage of 8kV is impressed and discharge with impressing DC bias voltage.
