PURPOSE:To allow highly accurate estimation of field winding temperature by a constitution wherein a computer operates the temperature of field winding of a synchronous machine according to a predetermined algorism using measurements during operation of the synchronous machine as an input data. CONSTITUTION:A computer 2 operates a field current Ifr based on an armature current Iam, an armature voltage Vam of a synchronous machine 1, and active and reactive powers P, Q of a load. An initial estimation value Tfr0 of the field winding temperature Tfr of the synchronous machine is then operated based on the temperature measurements Tcm of cooling medium and a field voltage Vfr is operated based on the initial estimated value Tfr0 and the field current Ifr. Furthermore, field current Iefr of an exciter is operated based on the field current Ifr and the field voltage Vfr. The field current Iefr for exciter is compared with a measurement Iefm thereof and if they are approximately equal, the operated values Vfr and Ifr are corrected and employed in the operation of the field winding temperature Tfr otherwise an abnormal processing is carried out. |
