PURPOSE:To restrain the migration of active material, concurrently prevent a conductive layer from being damaged with the conductive layer incresed in strength, and thereby enhance oxygen gas absorbing performance by forming the conductive layer containing polyvinylpyrolidone and conductive powder over the active material layer of a cathode. CONSTITUTION:The battery comprises an electrode group 4 combined with an anode 1 composed of sintered type nickel, a cathode 2 on which a conductive layer containing polyvinylpyrolidone PVP and conductive powder is bonded so as to be formed, and with a separator 3. The formation of the conductive layer using PVP excellent in alkali resistance, and in resistance to oxidation as binding agent over the surface of the cathode, permits the barrier layer of a hard and fine porous film to be formed hereon, migration is thereby restrained, and concurrently the strength of the conductive layer is thereby incresed so as to allow the conductive layer to be prevented from being destroyed due to the progress of the charge/discharge cycle, so that the conductive layer can thereby keep oxygen absorbing performance high for a long time. |
