The present invention relates to an information storage process as well as the support obtained by this process. According to this information storage process, a homogeneous layer (22) of at least one stress-sensitive active substance is deposited on the surface of a support (21), this or these active substances are next irreversibly deactivated in the areas (26) of the surface in order to create, outside these areas, privileged and accurately located information-storage sites (25) so as to obtain, on the support (21), an increase in the density of information storable per unit surface.
