The alloy is composed of (in wt.%) 0.05-0.10% Si, 0.05-0.10% Fe, 0.10-0.20% Cu, 0.10-0.20% Mn, 3.00-5.00% Mg, 0.05-0.15% Cr, 0.05-0.10% Zn and 94.15-96.6% Al. The Al alloy horseshoe is lighter than the conventional mild steel horseshoe and has excellent ductility, abrasion resistance and shock resistance.
