The method and the plant for continuously producing a ferrous tape substrate (1) coated with a protection material of metal alloy, comprise a series of steps which are carried out in each of the stations of the plant and which consist in: preparing a dispersion of metal alloy powder in a liquid mixture; applying at a coating station (4) the mixture thus prepared on at least one face of the tape (1) of the substrate; passing the tape or band thus coated in a heat treatment oven (5) in order to remove the volatile components of the liquid mixture and to heat the product; cooling the product at the calandering station (6) comprising temperature-regulated rollers (11) brought to pressure contact with the coated band.
